These pictures were made with a flatbed scanner. The main object in each picture is a ceramic vessel of some kind, such as a vase, or a rice bowl, which was purchased at a flea market in Beijing or Shanghai. The objects and the background surfaces were scanned separately (most of the time), and then combined with Photoshop.
